BBi HAS IGNORED CHURCH OPINION-

The CHURCH AND CLERGY ASSOCIATION OF KENYA union  has said that they are not satisfied with the recommendations of the BBI report launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta   at Bomas Of Kenya.

Led by their chairman Bishop Hudsan Ndeda they said that the recommendations they made to the BBI committee were not taken into account.

BISHOP HUDSA NDEDA
“The BBI report does not capture what some Kenyans wanted to see, it is a good progress but the President and the former Prime Minister should give an ear to descending views if indeed it is meant to unite Kenyans. If for example it is to address inclusivity, what stops the President from appointing a Prime minister and deputies from his tribe or his own party? It must be clear maybe something needs to be added if  the president will appoint the prime minister and two deputies, how sure are we that they will not be from his tribe or party in order to address the issue of inclusivity.” Bishop Ndeda Said.

Beshop Ndeda says the church submitted the following requirements but has not been considered in the report.

  • 1.     The church wants the registrar of societies to separate church matters including registration from societies.
  • 2.      Moratorium on Church registration be lifted before they support BBI;
  • 3.      Christian courts to deal with matters similar to Kadhis court.
  • 4.      They Further want m
arriage act be relooked into, stating that currently it is expensive for young men and women in Church to marry because of the charges at the marriage registrar.
  • 5.      They are also saying that there is no Freedom of worship under Jubilee government, and they want a clear article on the same.

According the Church And Clergy Association Of Kenya  the They say that despite giving their submission to the BBI committee, their proposals have not been taken into account, urging President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to clarify their demands before submitting the report to parliament.

“If the President and former Prime Minister will not give an ear to the different views expressed by some Kenyans, let them know that they will be forcing BBI on Kenyans and it will be resisted through our votes. We must be convinced beyond doubt that the report is meant to unite Kenyans rather than dividing them as it is now, we are already divided. ” Bishop Ndeda said

Bishop Ndenda also said that if  the recommendations of some Kenyans are ignored, the nation may be divided rather than united.

"If the above is not addressed and every other interest group listened to, let it be known that it is going to attract two camps of No and Yes, something we can avoid", he insisted.

They have also said that they will be launching the CHURCH AND CLERGY ASSOCIATION OF KENYA. After EAK and NCCK failed to represent the church effectively

"This is not just an association but a pure Umbrella body equal to EAK, NCCK, Unfortunately those of us who sit in privileged positions think of themselves." Bishop Hudsan Ndeda of Bethel Christian Pentecostal church said.

HON DAN WANYAMA- BBI MONEY SHOULD BE USED TO PROVIDE FREE EDUCATION

Center Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama

After President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga launched the BBI report at the Bomas hall in Nairobi, some lawmakers in Bungoma County have vowed to oppose the report, saying the country currently does not have enough money to go in a campaign mood.

Speaking in Webuye West constituency, the area MP Dan Wanyama has called on President Kenyatta to postpone the BBI's campaign process, saying it could cost the nation billions of dollars and demand that the money be diverted to the education ministry to help pay schools fees for the next two terms.

'These billions of money would be used to pay our children school fees For two terms, many parents are not able to pay school fees after being affected by Covid 19,' the  MP said.

Hon. Wanyama, however, urged local residents to read the report for themselves instead of being misled by politicians, accusing ODM party leader Raila Odinga of pushing for a  change in the country's constitution with the aime of benefitting politicaly.

"Raila is sly and sly, he wants to use the BBI as a stepping stone to the presidency in 2022 and he will not succeed," He said

The has said that  the Tangatanga team allied to the Deputy President William Ruto are not opposing the BBI report but they want the interest of a common amwananchi to be addressed fast.

“BBI report aims at creating  position for politicians who have no intention of helping
the common mwananchi, we hear them blaming Dp Ruto for giving Wheelbarrow to
the youth, we want Raila to bring our youth Probox instead of despising the youth
who do manual labor.” Hon  Wanyama stated
