Orphans
and widows in Webuye have received blanket and mattress support from the
African Child Trust in partnership with Jesus to all nation Webuye church.
Speaking at the handing over of the products to more than 50 widows and orphans under the project from western Kenya, Bishop Humphrey Wanyama, the organization’s director general in Kenya, said they had taken the initiative after discovering that many orphans had no bedding.
"We
have decided to give them a mattress, and a blanket to improve their livelihood
especially this season where the world is facing the Covid 19 epidemic."
Bishop Wanyama said.
At the
same time, the widows and orphans were given four kilograms of sugar, soap, and
tea leaves.
Bishop
Wanyama said the ACT foundation is also funding school fees for more than 50
orphans and said the organization would continue to fund children who will excel
in their exams, adding that those who qualified for university will continue to
receive funding from the organization.
However
he expressed his dismay at the large number of girls who continue to get pregnant
this Covid 19 season.
"Parents,
let us protect our children, especially girls, the education of those children
is very important, we must make sure that we do not watch them get pregnant
early," he said
The
remarks have been echoed by Pastor Johnston Oketa who has urged parents to give
their children religious education and to ensure that they attend church.
"Parents
we ask you to teach children to know the God otherwise after Covid 19 we may end up regreting,” Past Oketa
said,
Some of
the children who received the aid commended the African Child Trust and Bishop
Humphrey Wanyama for caring for them and promised to focus on their education.
"We
thank Bishop Wanyama for helping us, we have no one else to help us and when we
told him we had no accommodation he bought us with other children the matress
and blanket," Purity Wakhungu said.
Teresa
Nelima said ACT has given them relief since the death of their parents.
"I do not know if I would be alive now if it were not for the ACT, I thank all our donors and the founder of the Act, God bless you," she said.

God bless you Bishop Hamprey
